Renovations have Finally Begun! yea!

A few short weeks ago, the construction project that the lil' Allen family has talked about for so long ... has finally begun. At least it feels like it has. There are changes around the Allen house to prove it! our Beloved 'Breezie' has been taken down. 'Boss' sure misses her, but I think he will stand strong, and we are so happy that he is still around with only a 'haircut' to show for our day of much activity. We shed several tears over the fact that we had decided to take her down, but as she came down in order to make room for the new addition... we quickly realized that it was a good decision to remove her. We saw that it was actually pretty amazing that she was still standing on her own. The good ol' girl that gave us so much beautiful cool shade and mother to many sweet baby birdies was old and very rotted out, all the way down the center of her wide trunk. Just her bark was holding her up. For those of you that know Mapleton very well, know that it gets Very windy-especially in the evenings of the summer tyme. There were many nights that i lay in bed & worried that she might come crashing down on me, since my room was just below her-but she somehow stood strong. Amazingly so, as we soon found out as she came down, piece by piece.

Breezie was definately our biggest & saddest loss, but not the only loss. We decided to also take down two more trees. There was sort of a half pine tree on the south west corner of my property. After it came down... i realized how much shade it actually provided. I was worried that i was going to miss that shade terribly, but i have come to really enjoy how OPEN the front yard is now that it is down. We now have full view of the entire west horizon from the front porch. LOVE IT! The third tree that came down was a birch, that was in the front yard, that had died this last winter. It was nice to have that one come down too.

The day the trees came down, we had our very good friends there to help us. The Lee family and the Sabin family. (life would not be the same without these two BFF families) Some members of our ward also trickled in and trickled out during the days festivities. We appreciated EVERYONE's help, especially Aaron's! The big man on the 'equipment'. Ü

I took SEVERAL lil' videos that day and the next day. There were so many, that i will only put a few choice ones here. If you would like to see all of them, you can certainly just hop on over to my YouTube (here) account to see them all.

I am SO excited that changes are happening! I have seen the blue plans that have been drawn up for the project... and am just Thrilled at how they are turning out! So excited! My new studio, a dinning room, two more baths, garage, two bedrooms, pantry & a living space! wooowhoo!
