General Conference Oct 2008

(some of my most favorite quotes & moments of General Conference) Find JOY in the journey - NOW!

--Thomas S Monson

"What is important, almost always involves those around us. Often we assume, that they must know how much we love them, but we should never assume - we should let them know.

'They do not love, that do not show their love.'

--William Shakespeare

We will never regret the kind words spoken or the affection shown. Rather, our regrets shall come, if those things are omitted from our relationships with those who mean the most to us.

Send that note to the friend you have been neglecting; give your child a hug, give your parents a hug. Say

'I LOVE YOU'

more, always express your THANKS.

Never let a problem to be solved, become more important then a person to be loved."

--Thomas S. Monson

Unity - Love - Welfare - Service

There are no Tomorrows to remember...

...if we don't DO something Today!

--Thomas S. Monson Are we doing Better? Ye shall have JOY in Unity. Being of one Heart

--Henry B. Eyring

'Christian Courage'

--Robert D. Hales

'Nothing is as constant as change.'

--Thomas S. Monson(1960 during Vietnam War; J. Hess airman) "These things are important:

Temple marriage; mission; college; Press On; set goals; write history; take pictures twice a year."

'Let us relish life as we live it - find JOY in the journey - and share our love of friends and family.'

--Thomas S. Monson

'May we be found among those that give our Thanks to our Heavenly Father. If ingratitude be numbered amont the serious sins, then Gratitude takes its place among the nobelest of virtues. May we fill our days, as much as we can, with those things which matter most. May we cherrish those we hold dear & express our love to them in word and in deed.'

--Thomas S. Monson

'Reflect Gratitude'
"The standard of truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished and the great Jehovah shall say the work is Done."

--Joseph Smith

"Opposition may be in itself an opportunity, among the continuing challenges faced by our missionaries is the lack of interest in religious matters & in our message. These critisisims create interest in the church & provides and opportunity for the members to present the truth to those whose attentions are thus directed towards us." -1983-First Presidency

We can take advantage of such an opportunity in many ways. A kind letter to the editor, a conversation with a friend, a comment on a BLOG (Ü), or a reassuring word to one who has made a disparaging comment. We can answer with love, those who have been influenced by misinformation & prejudice & who are kept from the truth because they know not where to find it. I assure you, to answer our accusers in this way is Never weakness! it is 'Christian Courage' in action!

--Robert D. Hales

Meek´ness n.
1. - the feeling of patient, submissive humbleness

2. - a disposition to be patient and long suffering

Meekness is not weakness. It is the badge of Christian Courage.

'I God created man in mine own image. In the image of mine only begotten created I him. Male and Female, created I them.'

This truth elevates the human family. Man and Women are wonderous creations endowed with divine attributes. At the time of creation, God placed in Adam & Eve the supernal capacity to bear children in their likeness. We are all therefore in his image.'

--Keith B. McMulin
