Update: Provo River Trail 1/2 marathon
Well, it was weeks ago... and here I am just barely giving you an update. Within about 10 minutes of me crossing the finish line... we hoped into the car and drove all the way to Oregon!! I HIGHLY recomment that! Run a long race just before a long car drive. It was awesome! It helped sitting for about 14 hours... much easier!
I was very disappointed in the race as a whole as far as the organization goes. The busses did get us up to where the start line was 'supposedly' supposed to be... It was 5:30 in the morning and Pitch Black outside. The busses dropped us off and it was so dark, we couldn't hardly see where we were. Good thing that i had my cell with me cause i used the light to stumble my way to the porta potty. (we won't talk about how dark it was IN the porta potty) ew!
The start line wasn't marked. There wasn't even a real 'start' to the race. Everyone just started to run...
I was excited about this race cause i was after a PR, however there was really no way for me to tell if i made it or not. There were no timing chips-not to mention even a real start line. The start line was NOT marked.
Luckily... I ran into Julie before the race started! I was SO excited! what a FUN surprise! I had no idea she was going to be there running. It was fun to run with her. Julie had on a Garmin GPS. The kind that i have been looking into getting. That is really the only chance we had of knowing around about how well we did on the race.
The finish line was a complete disorganized MESS! So disappointing!
The actual race was BEAUTIFUL! We ran past waterfalls, rivers, crossed bridges, ran through a camp site.... it was beautiful.
Long story short.... this race had So much potential. They really just need to b e more organized. Timing chips would help tremendously! anyway, i am glad i ran it. and so glad i found Julie to run it with. (love you Jules!)
